Exploring Turin

Traveling long-term on a budget sometimes requires you to be flexible.

Sometimes being flexible to save on cash means visiting a country or place you hadn’t planned for. This is how we ended up in Italy.

Originally our idea for getting from Greece to France was to travel through the Balkans and then head west. Well, as much as we searched, traveling overland seemed expensive (and long) and popular ferry routes just weren’t running at the time of year we were hoping to use them. So we set out in search of cheap flights.

How does two flights for less than the price of one bus ticket sound? How about also not having to backtrack through Athens for a third time? Great. So, to Milan we go. But Milan is EXPENSIVE. So we hopped on a train to Turin, where AirBnb offered some super affordable (and adorable) options.

We spent a week exploring the city, eating delicious food, and wandering around through their beautiful parks. Did I mention the views of the Alps? Then, off to France with cheap bus tickets.

Italy, we will return to tackle your Dolomites.
