About Us
It all started when…
We met at a birthday party in our college town. Neither of us expected it, but we became fast friends and were soon off on all sorts of adventures together. Elliott took me on my first ever backpacking trip in Minnesota. I’d been camping as a kid and loved every minute of it, and had spent a lot of time thriving in the outdoors at summer camp, but he introduced me to the art of carrying everything you need to exist along on a massive hike. I was immediately hooked. I think we both always had a bit of an itch to travel - I was venturing abroad and Elliott was exploring the States. Eventually that bug led us to wander off from our comfy lives in the Midwest to travel West. After a few long months of backcountry adventures, we found ourselves settling into life in Oregon. We had great jobs and met amazing people, and spent as much time as we possibly could playing in the natural wonderland that is the Pacific Northwest. A number of years went by and suddenly the travel bug found us again. After a year of saving, and too little planning, we left everything we knew behind and set off to travel the world. We had a budget and a couple well-planned packs of gear, but no real plans of where we would go or when. We spent four months eating our way through Southeast Asia, wandering as aimlessly as we could. Fast forward another year, and you’ll find us living the dream on the South Island of New Zealand. And our adventures won’t end here!
Our wandering really took hold in exploring the outdoor spaces close to home and grew from there. While we may not be traveling to the most far-flung places on earth, or summiting the most epic of mountains, or being extreme in just about any way, we love a good adventure. Day hikes, backpacking, paddling, snowboarding, and getting lost while looking for good food in new places? Count us in.
As for our photos? They’re shot from the hip. And a much as we’d love to share a magazine-worthy, polished photographic experience with you, I just can’t be bothered to stare at Lightroom for hours to create a “perfect” image. What you see is what you get - hot off the camera, and maybe a bit crooked.
