Featherdale Wildlife Park

In case you haven’t noticed, Australia has some pretty cool wildlife.

A must-do in the Sydney area is paying a visit to Featherdale Wildlife Park. I’m all about heading into the bush for a chance to spot animals in their native environments (without disturbing them, of course), but sometimes trips just don’t allow enough time for that. It’s also a great idea to pay this park a visit if you want guaranteed cuddles with marsupials.

The park is easily accessed from the Sydney CBD by pulic transport, which was great for us as we were traveling without a car. Entry for adults came in at $32 AUD each, plus $3 each for cups of roo food. Trust me, you’ll want to feed these cuties! Normally we travel on the cheap and don’t often shell out cash for activities, but this is worth every bit.

Featherdale not only has the world’s largest collection of Australian fauna, but they have been caring for animals for 45 years and run several conservation and rescue programs to help grow the future of the Australian animal kingdom. Your visit helps fund these programs, including their native animal rescue hospital services.

Experiences in the park include educational chats about the animals, feeding the free-range kangaroos and wallabies, and you can even opt to have your photo with a koala or splurge on a more hands-on wildlife experience.
